CORPORATE STRATEGY

The concept of Strategy in the organisation has known several definitions and meanings, many of which are linked to the element of confrontation and challenges for several reasons.

The following are the most important ones in my opinion:

First…The Strategy in the organisation is linked to its life and existence as a living entity which carries out its activities within a specific time and place, using specific means within the same framework.  The continuation of the life of this organism depends on the extent of the success of its drivers (its human resources) in performing their role in achieving this.

Secondly…The institution operations in a volatile and ever-increasingly complex environment, and in an atmosphere of merciless competition.  Every competing organisation develops and implements plans and strategies in order to survive and gain a better position among competitors, whether in the market or in the technological field or elsewhere.

Third…Strategy is a military concept in origin.  It was later on transferred to the business community in order to benefit from it, given the great similarity that exists between the economic and military fields.  This became even clearer after the spread of the term “economic war” with the intensification of completion not only between institutions, but also between economic blocs and nations.

Moreover, the strategy has been known for some ambiguity, sometimes to the point of confusion between its components due to the great and interconnected connections between these components on the one hand, and the relatively recent use of this concept since the sixties of current century only in the economic field on the other hand.
